Adoption News

Great news! We had five of our wonderful rehabilitated hound dogs adopted in May. Hooray!!!

Unfortunately, one of the adoptive families is returning their dog, because he turned out to be more than they could handle with their baby and toddler, too. So this poor boy still needs a home. Spread the word, please! We want to see this beautiful boy in his forever home as soon as possible!

Help Us Help the Hounds!

Welcome to our new blog! Here you will find information about the Broad Creek Hound Rescue and our mission - to save the abandoned, injured, and mistreated hunting dogs of Eastern North Carolina. We will try to add more information periodically about our progress, as well as stories about the dogs, updates on adoptions, and information about all of our activities at the shelter.

Broad Creek Hound Rescue was founded by Shari and Dave Lawler to save the lives of abandoned and abused hound dogs, provide for their medical care, and find permanent, adoptive homes for each of the dogs rescued. It has been a real challenge at times, but we love these poor animals too much to give up this very necessary work. Unfortunately, with the economy in such bad shape, we are seeing even more cases of severe abuse and reckless abandonment as hunters take out the stresses of their financial lives on their dogs. Now, more than ever, these dogs need our help!

But we are no less stressed for funds than anyone else in this country. The price of everything from dog food to veterinary care has skyrocketed, even as donations have decreased. On top of that, Dave's heart problems have led to high medical bills and his inability to work any longer. We really need your help to save the lives of our rescued friends!

So please come back to check up on our efforts to save these beautiful dogs, and help us to help them by donating to the shelter. Your donations are tax-deductible. Thank you!
